Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Penélope Cruz, Beyoncé, & Lin-Manuel Miranda Among The 2022 Oscars Nominations!
Tuesday, Feb 8, 2022

Oscars season is here and this year’s diverse list of contenders is certainly one to watch!

The 94th academy awards announced today by Black-ish’s star Tracee Ellis Ross and Call Me Cat star and Instagram influencer Leslie Jordan did the duties. The Jane Campion-directed The Power of the Dog leads with 12 noms while Denis Villeneuve’s Dune trails with 10, and Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and Kenneth Branagh’s Belfast are tied with 7—all will go toe-to-toe in the Best Picture category.

With a more diverse list of noms this year, the best actor category recognized two of the biggest stars, Will Smith for King Richard and Denzel Washington for The Tragedy of Macbeth. Aunjanue Ellis also snagged a nom for Best Supporting Actress along with Ariana DeBose for West Side Story. Additionally, CODA‘s Troy Kotsur is the first deaf actor to receive an Oscar nom.

Also worth noting, it looks like the Oscars will be date night for lovebirds Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons who both earned their first noms for their performance in The Power of the Dog, and Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem who also received their first noms for Parallel Mothers and Being the Ricardos, respectively.

On the musical tip, Beyoncé earns her first Oscars nom for King Richard’s “Be Alive,” which will battle for Best Original Song against No Time to Die’s Billie Eilish and Encanto’s “Dos Oruguitas” by Lin-Manuel Miranda.

The Oscars will air on Sunday, March 27th on ABC. See below for the full list of nominees!
