Just hours after President Donald Trump tweeted that he and first lady Melania Trump tested positive for coronavirus early Friday morning, the two are reportedly “in good spirits” despite experiencing “mild symptoms” from their diagnosis. White House chief of staff Mark Meadows gave an update during this morning’s press conference.

Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis comes shortly after one of his senior advisors, Hope Hicks, tested positive for the virus on Thursday. According to The New York Times, Hicks started exhibiting symptoms as early as Wednesday while traveling with the president to a campaign rally in Duluth, Minnesota. Trump and Melania were quarantined and tested shortly thereafter, revealing their positive results just two hours later.

Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19. Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!

Melania tweeted that despite having mild symptoms, overall she’s “feeling good.”
