Did Selena Gomez manifest her Captain America celebrity crush, Chris Evans, to swoop in and save her from the single life? Social media sleuths say yes, but there may be more to the rumors that meet the eye.

In 2015, Selena told Andy Cohen that Chris Evans was her celebrity crush. “I kind of have a crush on Chris Evans. Isn’t he cute? He’s very cute,” she gushed over Chris. Cut to 2021, social media sleuths suspect Selena may have entered into Chris’ Marvel Cinematic Universe after noticing that Chris follows Selena on Instagram, although it’s unclear when he started following her. A couple of Twitter accounts also shared pictures of the two allegedly leaving the same restaurant, but separately, fueling rumors that they were avoiding being photographed together.

After a bit of research, it appears Selena doesn’t follow Chris Evans back on Instagram. In addition, both sets of the resurfaced photos in question were taken in totally different years. Gomez’s pictures were taken in 2017 and 2019, and the photos of Chris Evans date all the way back to 2013 and 2020—debunking the rumor that they dined at the same restaurant at the same time.
