Many rejoiced as former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was found guilty on three charges for the death of George Floyd last May. Less than a year ago, the world erupted when a viral video captured Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds as he begged for his life. After the close of one of the most controversial and closely-watched cases in history, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Evans, Sherri Shepherd, Porsha Williams, Barack Obama, and more took to social media to rejoice the guilty verdict.
Oprah Winfrey felt “relieved” and cried “tears of joy” after the jury found Chauvin guilty. She also thanked Danielle Frazier, the teen who captured George Floyd’s death on video.

Barack Obama praised the jury for doing “the right thing,” and pledged to “stand with all those who are committed to guaranteeing every American the full measure of justice.”

“A black mother’s prayers are different,” Dish Nation’s Sherri Shepherd shared in a heartfelt post about her son while Porsha Williams posted a video of George Floyd’s daughter saying “Dad changed the world.”
