Following in the footsteps of Jada Pinkett-Smith and Will Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Zampino, and Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz’ ex, Mashonda, Neyo’s wife, Crystal Smith and his ex-fiancée Monyetta Shaw spoke candidly about their blended family and blossoming friendship.

Crystal Smith, who calls Monyetta her “baby mama” explained how she had compassion for Monyetta while she was going through her issues with Neyo.

“I think its just better if you are the new person coming in to kinda of be mature about it, and even if you see the other person has a resistance, be understanding to their feelings because guess what? It could happen to you,” Crystal said.

Crystal went on to explain that the two were never “nasty to each other,” and despite Monyetta and Neyo’s issues, they worked on “genuinely getting along and being friends” for the sake of their blended family.

Because I was empathetic, still am to how you feel.  Ya’ll were trying to figure ya’ll things out, so for me it was just like ‘I like her and feel like once we get to this place, it’s going to be fun, and I was waiting on that day, and I’m so glad that day came,” Crystal told Monyetta.

Monyetta expressed her desire to be friends with Crystal as well, but emphasized that she didn’t want it to be “fake.”

The Jasmine Brand exclusively reported that Neyo filed for divorce from Crystal back in February, but the two have reconciled and are quarantining together.
