LIZZO, BEYONCÉ, MICHAEL B. JORDAN & RIHANNA WIN BIG AT NAACP IMAGE AWARDS
Monday, Feb 24, 2020

The 51st NAACP Image Awards, hosted by Blackish star Anthony Anderson, were nothing short of black excellence and a celebration of culture. Not only did Lizzo, Beyoncé, Michael B. Jordan and Rihanna have some of the night’s biggest wins, they also had the best moments!

”Truth Hurts” singer Lizzo snagged Entertainer of the Year and while accepting her award, she paid homage to her hero Angela Bassett and gave a special shout-out to all the “big black girls.”

Not only did Beyonce win multiple awards for her Homecoming documentary, her daughter Blue Ivy made history with her Outstanding Duo win for The Lion King: The Gift collaborative song “Brown Skin Girl,” as the youngest to ever win the award!

Michael B Jordan took home the Outstanding Actor award for his performance in Just Mercy, and dedicated the awards to those who have been wrongfully convicted and the other nominees.

Last but not least, while accepting the President’s Award, Rihanna gave an empowering speech about equality and a call for others to “pull up” to fight for the cause.
