Is Jay Ellis Insecure about having a white fiancée?! Some social media sleuths say yes.
Amid the premiere of the last season of Insecure, some fans were “today-years-old” when they found out Jay Ellis aka “Lawrence” is actually in a relationship with a white woman, Serbian model and actress, Nina Senicar. A Twitter user shared a tweet about Jay’s publicist allegedly encouraging him not to post his white fiancée on his Instagram, which left social media is in shambles.

Jay and Nina started dating in 2015 and welcomed their first child together in 2019. Although Jay has been private about his love life, he spoke out about it in a 2017 interview on The Breakfast Club when Charlemagne Tha God asked him if he thought black women would turn on him if they knew he was dating a white woman.
“I am in a relationship. I’m in a very happy relationship and that’s where I leave it. I don’t really worry about anything else and that’s it,” Jay answered—adding “I think for me, we give so much of ourselves in what we do no matter what side of the industry we’re on, so for me…a relationship for me is probably the most important thing that I think two people can have.”
Nina also spoke about their relationship in 2019 to Hello magazine, confirming the two were engaged and expecting a baby together.
