Howard University Takes Back Diddy’s Honorary Degree Amid Domestic & Sexual Assault Claims
Monday, Jun 10, 2024
Howard University snatched Diddy’s honorary degree like Rashad snatched that chain off of New New’s neck in the movie ATL.
The University’s board of trustees voted unanimously to accept the return of Diddy’s honorary degree that was awarded to him in 2014. In a statement, the university said since Diddy’s behavior in the released 2016 domestic abuse video against Cassie is “fundamentally incompatible” with Howard’s core values and beliefs, the Bad Boy founder is deemed unworthy to “hold the institution’s highest honor.”
“The Howard University Board of Trustees voted unanimously today to accept the return by Mr. Sean Combs of the honorary degree conferred upon him in 2014. This acceptance revokes all honors and privileges associated with the degree. Accordingly, the Board has directed that his name be removed from all documents listing honorary degree recipients of Howard University. Mr. Combs’ behavior as captured in a recently released video is so fundamentally incompatible with Howard University’s core values and beliefs that he is deemed no longer worthy to hold the institution’s highest honor.”

Therefore, Howard voted to revoke “all honors and privileges associated with the degree” and Diddy’s name will be removed from all honorary degree listings. Additionally, the university will return Diddy’s $1 million contribution and terminate a $1 million pledge agreement from the Sean Combs Foundation.

The university’s decision follows CNN’s exclusive video release of Diddy physically assaulting Cassie at the Intercontinental Hotel in LA in March of 2016, and Cassie’s now-settled lawsuit against Diddy for domestic abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking.
