The 2022 BET Awards went down last night and it was hands down “culture’s biggest night!” Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy and the family came out to kick some “Flava in Ya Ear,” Kanye West made a rare appearance, Mariah Carey hit her classic high notes in a surprise performance, Giveon had a major microphone glitch, and more!

In celebration of Diddy’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Bad Boy fam along with R&B and hip-hop legends, i.e., Jodeci, Lil Kim, Mary J. Blige, Faith Evans, The Lox, Busta Rhymes, and more hit the stage for a nostalgic performance that paid homage to the start of Diddy’s career at  Uptown Records, which was founded by the late Andre Harrell.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, who came out of hiding to present Diddy’s award alongside Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, credited the Bad Boy legend for inspiring “his wife’s choices” in his speech.

It was definitely a “sweet sweet fantasy” for Mariah Carey stans as the R&B songbird surprisingly hit the stage alongside Best New Artist winner Latto for a performance of her smash hit, “Big Energy” which samples Mariah’s 1995 classic, “Fantasy.”

Aside from the legendary moments, there was also a most-talked-about moment that had singer Giveon giving major off-key vibes. While closing the show with a medley of his hits, the singer seemed to be struggling with his microphone. He later tweeted that BET sabotaged his set and made a reference to Lil Nas X, who was reportedly shut out of this year’s BET Awards.
