Beyoncé is one of many celebrities who is speaking out against police brutality. In an open letter to Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron, the “Listen” singer questioned LMPD’s investigation surrounding Breonna Taylor’s death— which “created more questions than answers”—and demanded “swift and decisive action” for the officers responsible. After a “no-knock” warrant was issued for a drug raid, on March 13th, police burst into Breonna’s home, firing 20 times and hitting her 8 times while she slept. No drugs were found.
Although the three officers involved, Jon Mattingly, Myles Cosgrove, and Brett Hankison, have been placed on administrative leave, Beyonce wants A.G. Daniel Cameron to bring charges and hold them “accountable for their actions.” Additionally, Beyoncé emphasized that the Louisville Metro Council’s vote to ban no-knock warrants last week was “small steps in the right direction,” but yet a “painful” reminder that there was still “no justice for Breonna Taylor”.

Beyoncé made three specific demands in her letter to A.G. Daniel Cameron to “demonstrate the value of a black woman’s life” which are bringing criminal charges against the three officers involved in Ms. Taylor’s death, committing to transparency in the investigation and prosecution of the officers, and investigating the response of Louisville police to the shooting.
Her husband Jay-Z has also spoken out against police brutality and racial injustice by buying ads in major newspapers as a call for justice for those slain by police.
