A NEW PETITION CALLS OUT ‘THE BACHELOR’ FOR THEIR LACK OF DIVERSITY—DEMANDS BLACK MALE LEAD IN SEASON 25
Tuesday, Jun 9, 2020

Your favorite dating franchise, The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, has been around for 40 seasons. But after 18 years on- air with only one black lead, it seems the series has been handing out a bit of racial inequality with their roses. Rachel Lindsay, a black woman cast as The Bachelorette’s lead in Season 13, has called for change for years, but to no avail. Therefore, cast members and fans are demanding the franchise address their lack of diversity with a 13-step plan-of-action for upcoming season 25.

The petition—which has been shared by cast members Diggy Moreland, Tyler Cameron, Nick Viall, Jubilee Sharpe, and more—demands a black male lead for Season 25, “at least 35% of contestants” being non-white or BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) for “equitable screentime,” and a diversity consultant to mitigate racial issues through proper vetting.

Do you think ABC and The Bachelor franchise will address these concerns by Season 25?
